The month kicked off exactly where in Maine...forever a favorite for a getaway.
Time away to rest, plan and to vision.
I spent some time pouring into the Gather & Ground Retreat happening this November and beginning a big project I cannot wait to share with you when the time is right.

Back to the late 90s when I had just gotten my real estate license and was figuring out how I wanted to show up.
My husband and I were newly married. We had a one-year-old. And I didn’t feel put together.

There was a time when getting dressed felt harder than it should have.
I used to think the problem was my clothes.
I had pieces I liked. I had options.
But when it came time to get dressed for my everyday, maybe a client meeting, an event, or getting on camera, it was a struggle.
I realized it wasn’t about having more.
It was that I didn’t fully understand my personal style yet.
I was choosing outfits based on what I thought I should wear… not what actually felt aligned with who I am and how I wanted to show up.
And that disconnect made everything feel harder than it needed to be.
Once I took the time to understand my style, everything shifted.

I didn’t realize how much I was hiding behind my work.
I told myself I only needed to deliver incredible results and that would be enough.

One of my favorite things is decorating the studio.
Whether I’m styling a set design for a client’s brand photoshoot, refreshing the space before a workshop, or adding small details to welcome someone through the door, I love creating a space that feels intentional and warm.
For me, it’s never just about how it looks.
It’s about how it feels.
When a client walks in and immediately relaxes… when workshop attendees settle in and start connecting… when a set design feels good for a client’s brand.
That’s the part that makes me smile.
So yes, decorating the studio is something I’m good at.
And yes… I might also be very good at spending money decorating the studio😊
But creating a space where women can exhale and feel seen?
Worth it every time.💛
It’s not every day that I get to photograph an accomplished scientist… but recently I had the absolute joy of doing just that.✨
Kiee is a microbiologist who opened her own physical lab just over a year ago.

In a few days, I’ll be celebrating six years in the studio I’m in now.
But the space in the video?
This was the studio before the one you see today.
I remember texting my husband a photo and saying I found my new space.
His response: “Are you sure?”
He saw clutter.
I saw potential.
It was nothing that a fresh coat of paint and some new floors couldn’t solve.
I had big dreams for that space.
Every week, I planned small steps toward the bigger vision I had in my heart.
What most people see now is the middle.
What they don’t always see is the beginning.
The stretch.
The faith.
The small steps that didn’t look like much at the time.

Behind every shoot at the studio is intention and strategy.
It’s never just about getting great photos.
(Although yes… we absolutely do that.)

Kristen @refinefromwithin is a psychotherapist, health coach, and dare I say… she loves fitness 💕
She supports women 40 and beyond, especially those navigating perimenopause and menopause, who want to feel good in their bodies and minds again through sustainable changes that actually support this season of life.
Her goal for her brand photoshoot was to have updated, elevated photos that truly reflect who she is and where she is now.
We styled two set designs to capture the essence of her, her work and how it feels to work with her including a yoga-inspired set to reflect the mind-body connection at the core of what she does.
The result? She loves her photos and her sister loves them too🩷

Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak at the @tricountyregionalchamber Connecting Women Leaders Luncheon, and I’m so grateful for the invitation.

Last week I was working with a client in the studio, and we both said the same thing.
How is the first month of the year (2026!) already almost over?

It’s January 5th. I’m pretty sure today is Monday…and honestly, that feels like progress.
You know how sometimes you’re the last one to arrive at the party, but you still get a warm hug and a “so glad you made it”? That’s how I’m walking into this year.

It was the final session of the season with littles, and let me tell you… they were the cutest.

When I saw Julianne’s name pop up for the holiday sessions, my heart did a little happy dance.
I was their wedding photographer eight years ago—and seeing them again, now with their beautiful daughter and another baby on the way was the best!

My very first retreat wasn’t meant to be anything big.
Back in December 2019, I booked a room at a cozy inn in Newport, RI for a few days — inspired by a woman I’d seen on Instagram who had simply taken herself away to plan.

But something unexpected happened.

I recently shared with my email list that my mom visited the studio for the first time last year and she couldn’t stop smiling. She was always so proud of the work I get to do and was one of my biggest cheerleaders. Today, I can’t stop smiling either. That memory is a gift I’ll carry with me always.

I told my mom to bring her dancing shoes because we weren’t leaving this party early.
And I’m so glad she did.❤️
My mom passed away peacefully this past Saturday.
While my heart feels sad, I’m so grateful for the times we had with her especially over these most recent years.
I haven’t been able to call everyone just yet, so I wanted to share this here.

❤️Finally celebrated our 28th Anniversary (the actual date was back in September). I wasn’t feeling my best then but this weekend at one of our favorite places made it worth the extra wait.

Earlier this year, I got a notice from Meta (aka Facebook😊) that they’d be removing old live videos.
Instantly, I was taken back to January 3, 2020—the first time I ever went live after pivoting my brand.

I’ve been taking solo business retreats since 2019, when I booked a cozy inn in Newport, RI for two days — inspired by a woman I’d seen on Instagram who had simply given herself space to step away from her business and plan.
I thought it would just be about productivity.
But something unexpected happened… I realized I had also given myself room to breathe, rest, and work on my business with intention.
Since then, retreats have become a grounding rhythm for me — not as a luxury, but as a practice that helps me return more focused, clear, and aligned with the business (and life) I want to build.
Most recently, while on a retreat to Cape Cod I took a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard.
I ended up having brunch with a woman I met in line. I shared that I was on a retreat, and she asked me: “Would you ever host one of these for other women?”
I enjoyed my shrimp and grits and great conversation.
Well, her question stuck with me as I’d been asked the same question many times before.
And now, I’m saying yes — and inviting a small circle of 15 women to Gather & Ground with me this November in York, Maine.

Just back from the Live2Lead Maxwell Leadership Conference—and I’m still reflecting on all the gold I received.
One of my goals this year was to attend a leadership conference. And as a fan of John Maxwell, when the opportunity to attend came up—it was a big yes.
The energy in the room was magnetic!
I took pages of notes, and every session left me inspired💛
My work is rooted in adding value to my clients and events like this allow me to be filled up so that I can pour more intentionally into the women I get to support.
Here are a few of my favorite takeaways:
✨ Mark Cole —Vision with action moves you forward. Know yourself. Grow yourself. Show yourself.
✨ Tiffani Bova — Whatever you want to do, you must be willing to build your confidence muscle. Repetition builds confidence.
✨ Jesse Cole — Do the unscalable. Make it unique. Do for one what you wish you could do for many. Swing hard in case you hit it.
✨ Anthony Trucks — Be willing to do the work that no one sees. That’s what allows you to live in the light. You must own your shift.
✨ Valorie Burton — You need resilience to overcome challenges—and resilience to seize opportunities. Look for the opportunity in every challenge.
✨ Craig Groeschel — Change what you believe is possible. Goals don’t determine success—systems do. Quit whining. You’re sharp. Fix it.
✨ John Maxwell — Every day set aside time to improve yourself. Put yourself in rooms that inspire you to see more, more and more before. It’s not about how long it will take—but how far you can go.
This experience reminded me that leadership starts with intentional growth and leading myself well.
And when I grow, everyone I serve grows too.

It was the second day of a mastermind intensive, and we were each tasked with writing and delivering our signature talks.
I was surrounded by confident, successful women—business owners at different stages and seasons of their journey.
And me?
I was at the start of a pivot—from being known as a wedding photographer to stepping into branding.
I believed in this shift. I cared deeply about the transformation I could help clients create.
But my confidence hadn’t caught up with my vision yet.
As I stared at a blank page, my heart was racing.
The thoughts were loud:
“What if I mess up?”
“What if I’m not good enough?”
“What if I’m not ready to share this yet?”
It felt easier to stay quiet. To stay on the sidelines.
But I knew that wasn’t where I was meant to be.
So I wrote the talk.
And when it was my turn, I stood up, walked to the front of the room, and delivered it.
The applause was kind and supportive.
And then my coach said something I’ll never forget:
“You did great… but we couldn’t hear you in the back of the room.”
It wasn’t criticism—it was clarity.
Because what good is your message if no one can hear it?
That moment changed everything for me.
Because visibility isn’t just about being seen—
It’s about being found by the people who need you most.
And yet… for so long, I was afraid to really put myself out there.
Afraid of judgment. Of doing it “wrong.”
Of being visible before I felt fully ready.
