How to Stop the Scroll & Clarify Your Brand
How to Stop the Scroll & Clarify Your Brand
Whether we like it or not, social media is hugely influential in our lives and our businesses. Every single day, we let our social media feeds tell us…
- What we should be posting about
- What we should be doing in our business
- How we should look
- How we should measure our brand’s success
But can I let you in on a secret?
You’ll never build your brand by scrolling through your social media feed.
What It Really Takes to Build a Recognizable, Successful Brand
When it comes to creating a brand that’s actually successful—not just flashy or popular on the ‘Gram—the key is creating something that stands out. You shouldn’t be aiming to look, talk, act, or be exactly like everyone else in your industry!
So how can you create a brand that stands out from the crowd, both online and in the real world?
It’s all about clarifying your brand, showing up authentically, and building a strong foundation. In this blog, I’m going to show you how to do exactly that—and no, it has absolutely nothing to do with finding ‘inspiration’ on your favorite social platform.
The Stages of Clarifying Your Brand
‘Clarify your brand’ might feel like a vague instruction. After all—if all our brands should be unique, shouldn’t the clarification process be unique too?
Somewhat. However, there’s absolutely a proven framework you can follow. These are the steps I recommend following.
1.Get Clear On the Problem You Solve For Your Ideal Client.
One of my favorite lines in Donald Miller’s Storybrand is, “If you confuse, you lose.” Your ideal client needs to be able to show up on your page/website/etc and instantly understand how you can help them. This seemingly small step is crucial to creating content that’s clear, not confusing.
2.Identify Your Brand’s Message & Story.
Once you’ve identified exactly how you can help your ideal client, the next step is to get clear on your brand’s message and story. Why are you in this business? Why is the transformation you provide important? What are your values? Drill down on the problem you solve + your story, and repeat these elements again and again in your marketing. Walking through this process is crucial! As a certified coach with Business Made Simple, my clients are coached through how to create and use the StoryBrand Brandscript Framework.
From this simple, proven framework, you’ll create your brand messages which can be used for social media content, videos, blog posts, podcasts, your marketing messages, your Website and MORE!
3.Consider How You Want Your Brand to Be Felt & Experienced.
How do you want people to feel when they interact with you? Empowered? Inspired? Understood? Choose a few brand words to guide you as you hone in on the emotions you want your brand to elicit for your audience.
Clarifying Your Brand Takes Time & Effort—But It Makes Every Other Element of Growing Your Business That Much Simpler.
